Runaway Empty Runaway

Post by Guest Sun Mar 27, 2016 2:03 pm

Mikajia was lying on top of one of the countless roofs in Sanguinem, staring up at the dark ceiling above him, legs crossed at the ankles, and arms folded behind his head. It was quiet in the large underground city. It was approximately three in the morning, meaning most of the humans would be soundly asleep. This was another reason why he didn't like spending a lot of time in Sanguinem, keeping track of time was a bitch if you didn't have some type of clock. Seeing as there was no sun or moon to give off light, it was easy to lose your sense of time down here.

He closed his eyes, taking a deep breath and exhaling. He did have to admit though, even with the entire city being underground, somehow the entire cavernous space below had a great ventilation system, keeping the air constantly moving. He would have probably went absolutely crazy within the first few days down here the first time if he'd actually felt like he was in one big cave.

Mikajia took another deep breath, exhaling slowly and softly as he completely cleared his mind; letting no thought or picture cross his mind. Mentalists would call this Meditating on the Void. A state where you completely clear your mind of every thought and image possible. You do nothing but simply be. Focusing on simply breathing evenly and expanding your consciousness.

At this time, Mikajia let all of his senses extend beyond himself. His sense of smell reaching several meters beyond him, picking up even the smallest insect that scuttled across the brick floor of a nearby alley. His sense of taste could pick up even the most minute of crumbs that lay on the floor of a house a block away. And his sense of hearing could pick up even the faintest of heartbeats nearly twenty meters away. And that's when he heard it, the whispering of an older human boy. At first he was about to simply dismiss the whispering, thinking it was just some kids that were staying up late talking about nothing in particular.

But as he listened further, his ears picked up on some choice words that garnered his entire attention. He slowly opened his eyes before chuckling.

This is going to be fun. He thought to himself before smirking.

Runaway Empty Re: Runaway

Post by Guest Sun Mar 27, 2016 2:24 pm

Saleth lazily flipped through the pages of his notebook as he walked down the empty street. He had just returned from another of his walks and was surprised to find that it was already pretty late. He didn't think he'll be out that long, but at least he got some good drawings. Red eyes briefly lingered on a rather delicate drawing of a butterfly on a rather unique flower before turning the page.

The short noble wasn't tired in the slightest so he was looking for a quiet place to relax while going over his drawings. He had hoped it would be easy to find such a place since all of the livestock would be sleeping, but sadly the low ranking vampires were very active near some of his favorite places to rest. He was now stuck with the task of finding yet another place to look through his drawings.

Sharp clicks against the hard ground announced his presence to everyone nearby so he didn't encounter any vampires or the kids that do stay up this late. "Wait!" He stopped walking and looked around him at the sound of child's voice. It came out as a hushed hiss, but his sensitive hearing quickly picked it up. He tilted his head slightly as he heard a hushed conversation go on between a few kids and sighed softly.

"What a nuisance..." The noble muttered to himself as the hushed voices grew more distant, obviously getting farther away. The silver haired noble delicately closed his notebook full of detailed drawings and slipped it inside his white cloak before heading after the livestock while staying in the middle of the street. His heels sharply clicked against the ground, though he wasn't worried. The children were too occupied to notice the sharp clicks that announced their downfall.

Mikajia sat up from his spot, zoning in on the sound of the group currently trying to attempt an escape. When will they learn? He thought to himself as he began to lithely traverse the roofs leading to the group. He stopped when he had reached their current location, staring down at the group of eight children from a roof above. Two of the group were children in their early teens, while the rest varied from roughly six to ten. The two oldest, one boy and one girl, were currently arguing quietly.

"This is insane!" The girl hissed at the older boy, grabbing him by the shoulder and pulling him to a stop, "You know what will happen if they catch us. Why would you even risk it?!"

Smart girl. He thought with a smirk, simply standing there watching the group, and trying to decide the most entertaining route for the coming events. He was feeling particularly sadistic right now. And terrorizing the children seemed like a good way to take the edge off.

"Are you really fine with just staying here for the rest of your life?! Letting yourself be used like some tool?" The boy hissed back, "You're not blind or deaf. You know exactly what they think of us! How can you be so fine with that?! You don't want to actually live, to be considered something more than just livestock?!" The boy was having trouble keeping his voice down, obviously feeling passionate about the topic. He was the kind that Mikajia held a sense of admiration for, and had he not possessed a certain level of hatred for humanity, he might have been willing to give these kids more of a chance. But, sadly, he did hate humanity. Hated them with a level of wrath and malice that could be scarcely described.

"You know exactly how I feel about it!" She nearly shouted back at the boy. Their argument was steadily gaining volume, but still managed to remain as whispers in a way; the younger kids in the group were staying huddled together, fear on their faces as they watched the two older one's in the group arguing. "You know that I would love nothing less than to be free of this place. But this is not the way to do it. This will just get us killed. We need to be smart about this Elijah."

Hmmm. Passion, and intelligence. Two qualities I admire. Too bad their possessed by humans.

Runaway Empty Re: Runaway

Saleth slowly looked upwards towards the darkened roofs of the silent buildings around him when he heard something. He briefly paused in his steps to see if it was his own steps he was hearing, but there it was again. He could barely hear it but he was certain there was someone up on the roofs. The short noble resumed his walking, noticing that whoever was traveling across the roofs was heading for the same direction as him. Must be a vampire.

It would be a problem if it was a common vampire since they would be all too happy to use an attempted escape as an excuse to drink directly from the livestock. To prevent something like that from happening he would just have to reach the children first. His steps picked up pace and the sharp clicks his heels made seemed to echo around him louder than before.

The short noble could hear a boy and girl arguing about escaping. The girl seemed to know what would happen if they were caught while the boy argued loudly about not being used as a tool for vampires. The silver haired noble shook his head lightly, his ponytail swaying behind him due to the motion. The children knew that they could be killed for trying to escape, so why risk it?

They were safe here as long as they stayed out of the vampires way, so why attempt to go back to their corrupted world? He might have known the answer long ago when he was human, but he's a vampire noble now and could not comprehend why these humans acted like this.

Saleth quickly shook those thoughts from mind and turned the corner, seeing the children huddled together in the shadows of the buildings. One of the smaller kids seemed to hear the sharp clicks his heels made and looked in the noble's direction. He could see the child's eyes grow wide with terror as the silver haired noble drew closer.

The small child shakily tugged on the arguing boy's shirt and pointed in the noble's direction with a shaking hand. The tall boy's eyes widened before the girl he was arguing with urgently shooed the whole group in the opposite direction while saying, "Run!"

The short noble softly chuckled as he watched the children begin to run, knowing that he could catch them in a heartbeat. "There is nowhere left for you to run."

Hmm? Mikajia thought to himself, head turning in the direction of a very familiar sound, "Well well." He said to himself when Saleth came into view. Mikajia squatted at the edge of the roof, just watching the progression of the events now. Still waiting for the right time to show himself to the humans. He figured the more frightened they became, the better their reactions would be when he finally appeared to show them just how feeble this escape attempt was.

He grinned crookedly at the vampire's words, telling them there was nowhere left to run. He agreed and both disagreed. Running was useless, yes, but there were still plenty of places they could try and escape to; and far be it from him to pass up on a chance for a hunt, no matter how quick. His eyes shifted to the small forms frantically scrambling to try and escape their inevitable demise, watching them with amusement.

Wonder how long I can drag this out? If I wait too long, odds are another vamp will come along, and then the fun will be over. Another minute or so will probably be good. That minute will feel like an eternity to those kids. They'll be nice and petrified by that point. So much so, they might just keel over from the terror alone? He mused, then got up and began to slowly follow the groups movements, jumping from roof to roof quietly.

Saleth let his eyes wander up to the roofs as he heard more movement up there before turning his red gaze back to the children. The tallest boy was running in the back and was urging the smallest child in the group to keep running whenever it seemed like the little girl was slowing down. He shook his head before resuming his task of following the children. He made sure his pace was fast enough so they wouldn't disappear from his sights, but slow enough so they could still have the false sense of being able to escape from the silver haired noble.

He looked back up to the roofs when he thought he saw a figure up there. However, the figure disappeared as soon as he looked up there. He frowned briefly before turning his focus back onto the children attempting to escape him. If it was a commoner wouldn't the vampire have approached him by now? If the vampire wasn't approaching him then it must not be a commoner, perhaps it was another noble? Though if it is indeed a noble, is the vampire of a higher or lower rank than him? Of course he could just go up there and see for himself, but he didn't want to leave the children's line of sight. They would feel cautious yet safe if the noble were to disappear.

He broke out of his thoughts when a heard a small yelp. Red eyes quickly turned back to the kids and saw that one of the small boys in the back of the group tripped over a rock and landed heavily on the ground. "Kevin!" The tallest boy shouted and skidded to a stop, moving to run back to help the small boy up. The short noble dashed forward and snatched the boy up by the back of his shirt before the tall boy could even move.

"Let him go!" The tall boy angrily shouted and the group slowly moved to his side. The noble ignored the human child and held the boy up higher, watching as tears ran down his face as he tried to lean as far away from the vampire noble as possible. "This game of tag wasn't that fun," The short noble's icy tone seemed to startle the child he held as more tears dripped down his cheeks. Saleth looked back towards the group of children and watched some of them flinch at his gaze. "You can come out now, vampire." He directed his words to the vampire who was still on the roof nearby.

"Ugh." Mikajia groaned loudly when the noble had mentioned his presence, telling him to come out. He stepped forward to the edge of the roof, his face in a annoyed frown as he said, "Way to ruin the game Sally. You're supposed to let me pop out and go..." Mikajia disappeared from the roof the moment the final word escaped his lips, reappearing almost instantly behind the group, and saying, "BOO!" While widening his eyes manically, and baring his fangs.

Many of the younger ones actually screamed a bit at his sudden appearance behind them. Some of the older ones also shouted and jumped a bit, but for the most part, it was a very disappointing reaction compared to what he was hoping for. "See?" He said, looking to the blond noble with a bit of a pout on his face, "So boring." He added, while rolling his eyes and sighing. "Now what am I supposed to do for fun?"

But before Saleth could answer his question, one of Mikajia's eyes twitched in annoyance, just before he drew one of his swords; arm moving like a blur as he pulled the sword out of its scabbard, the tang ringing through the area. In the time it took to blink, his entire demeanor had changed. Deadly crimson eyes stared down darkly at a child that had been constantly crying since Saleth had first grabbed one of the kids. The boy couldn't be more than four years old, but that made no difference to Mikajia. A deadly and venomous aura seemed to seep out of him and permeate the air.

Mikajia held his stance, absolutely nothing in his entire frame moving; the tip of his sword lightly pressed against the throat of the child, no longer crying but now staring up at Mikajia with big tear filled eyes. "Shut. Up." There wasn't even the slightest shred of pity in him for the children, and he knew that the air he was giving off made that perfectly clear to everyone present. They knew he was perfectly willing and capable of ripping them all to shreds. And would likely do it without so much as blinking at the gore.

Saleth was a little surprised to see it was Mikajia who was on the roof. Though he shouldn't he too surprised, after all the younger noble did like these types of games. He silently watched as Mikajia scared the kids and managed to get some of the younger ones to scream in fear at the sight of the tall noble. They knew now that with two nobles there they had no chance of escaping. He opened his mouth, ready to propose a new option for the noble to have fun, when Mikajia suddenly drew one of his swords in one swift motion. The taller noble had the tip of his blade pressed against the throat of a crying boy.

He didn't make any move as the noble hissed at the boy to shut up, knowing that it wouldn't matter if Mikajia killed the boy or not. They tried to escape so it would be best to make sure they don't attempt another escape in the future by punishing them. "Mikajia," He called out the other noble's name, drawing everyone's attention. "We should...discourage them."

The short noble drew the boy he held closer and placed the tip of his nail against the boy's neck, feeling his pulse quicken in fear. He pressed down harder till a small trail of crimson liquid dripped down the child's throat, filling the air with the scent of his blood. The silver haired noble drew his hand away from the boy's neck and licked the blood off his finger before turning his gaze to his fellow noble.

"Care for another game?"

"I agree." He said calmly in response to Saleth's comment about discouraging the group, but still kept his deadly gaze locked on the child's fear filled eyes; his sword still poised calmly at the kid's throat. "Rebellion is such a nuisance. Especially when attempted by ignorant children." He said calmly. Finally, he withdrew his sword from the child's throat, eyes sliding to meet with the other nobles; face angling in his direction ever so slightly, as a small crooked grin lifted his lips, "Oh really?" His predatory nature mingling with his malice and sadistic predisposition, making him seem all the more terrifying.

"And what kind of game would that be? You ended my last game prematurely, and so now I'm out for nothing less than blood dear Saleth. I do hope you have something interesting planned. Lest my hunger gets the better of me." Mikajia's voice was velvet smooth as he spoke. His eyes slowly took in the children before him, each one held captive by them, like mice paralyzed in a cobra's gaze.

((It's soooooo tiny. I'm so disappointed with myself *cries*. But I really couldn't think of anything else to add.))

"Blood, hm?" Saleth allowed a dangerous smile to form as he turned his red gaze back to the child he held in his hand. "I'm sure this game can satisfy your thirst, Mikajia." The child shivered in fear at the deadly tone the short noble was using. Red eyes locked back onto the group of kids who flinched in response. "You shall get your chance at freedom," The kids looked at each other in confusion at the noble's words. "However, there is a certain...risk to it."

The short noble waved a hand in Mikajia's direction causing some of the kids to look at the taller noble in question. "Those who get caught by either me or my fellow noble here will lose the game, and the punishment for losing is...well..." He chuckled before shaking his head with a dangerous smile. "Let's just say you don't want to be caught."

Saleth turned his gaze onto the taller noble and smiled, the tips of his fangs being visible. "Of course there will be a prize for who gets the most humans, Mikajia," The short noble raised the boy he was holding higher. "I already have one so I'm afraid you're at a disadvantage here." He lowered the boy a bit and smiled wider. "Surely that would make the challenge all the more fun for you, correct?" He paused, waiting for the taller noble's response before continuing.

"The winner of this game gets to state what he desires." After he was sure that the other noble knew exactly what the game was he turned his focus back onto the children. "Hurry up and run now," The noble made a shooing motion at the children. "So we can start this special game of tag now." The children didn't hesitate to spin around and dart past the taller noble before breaking off into small groups and heading down different alleyways.

Mikajia listened intently to Saleth's words, a grin spreading across his face at the prospect of high stakes tag, which is essentially what Saleth was proposing. It truly was cruel, taunting the idea of freedom to the children, all the while knowing that such a thing would never be possible for them. But that thought simply caused his grin to turn darker.

"You would be correct. After all, where's the fun in an easy challenge?" Mikajia said in response to Saleth's question. It was common knowledge that Mikajia was the type to constantly test himself with difficult or complicated tasks; pressuring himself and striving ever higher, always looking to gain more power or strength. The more difficult the challenge, the more excited he would become to take it on. And though their current little game could scarcely be considered challenging, the more sadistic and predatory side of him made up for the lack of physical exertion.

The terror that the children would display as he hunted them down, one by one would provide plenty satisfaction. What's more, when Saleth mentioned the prize for the winner, his interest was piqued even more. He could think of one desire in particular that would provide great assistance to his future goals. He now had an entirely different motivation for winning this little game.

Mikajia smirked once more at Saleth before disappearing, already shifting into hunting mode; stalking two of the younger children from the shadows, and letting his senses expand out, surveying the surroundings. If he let the kids continue on their route, in the next few moments, they would run directly into the older boy of the group.

This little game of tag was far from fair to say the least. Not only because of the fact there were two noble vampires chasing children around, but the terrain of Sanguinem was set up almost like a maze. Dozens of alleyways zigg-zaged, and weaved through the hundreds of buildings and houses that made up the large underground city. What's more, there were several canals stretching through the city. So what seemed like a perfect escape route to these children, really was nothing more than a dead end, made so by the canal cutting through the ground; the same also being said of the older boy.

Within the blink of an eye, Mikajia had descended upon the kids, not even giving them enough time to scream.

Saleth watched as Mikajia disappeared to start the hunt before turning his attention to the boy he still held. "How many are left in your group?" The boy flinched at the noble's voice directed at him and shakily said, "T-There's eleven in our g-group counting m-me..." The short noble could feel a smirk forming when he heard the number. Since it's an odd number there weren't be any ties, so one of them would have to be the winner. He was already in the lead but he knew better than to get arrogant about his expected victory when facing Mikajia. The noble would be a tricky opponent, he has to get started with his own hunt now.

The short noble dropped the boy to the ground, watching as the boy struggled to his feet to escape him, and drew Miteagus. The child didn't even get a chance to scream before the noble slit his throat with his sword. He watched as the boy fell limply to the ground with blood pooling around him. "One." The noble simply said before stepping over the corpse and swiftly headed down one of the alleyways where he knew some of the children had entered.

Before long the noble could see the shadowy figures of three kids running desperately down the alleyway. "H-He's here!" One of the kids shrieked and they all pushed themselves harder to try and escape the noble. He laughed softly to himself at the pitiful sight and started running for them, reaching them in a few heartbeats. "Two," Miteagus decapitated the boy in the back. "Three," Blood splashed onto the hard ground. "...Four." The silver haired noble ran Miteagus right through the last child. The girl he impaled struggled weakly for a bit before falling limply on the blade. He drew his sword out of the lifeless body and watched as she crashed onto the floor, her blood mixing with the other two kids.

"Seven left," Saleth brought the blade of his sword up to his lips and licked the delicious crimson liquid off it. "I wonder if you can surpass me, Mikajia."

Runaway Empty Re: Runaway

Post by Guest Wed Mar 30, 2016 5:35 pm

After draining the blood of the last of the trio he'd just killed, Mikajia dropped the empty corpse back to the ground. It hadn't taken long seeing as they were just children, and time wise, he was sure he still had enough time to keep from falling behind. Not to mention he'd been fairly hungry by that point, and the children's blood had been exactly what he'd needed to reign his lust back under his control.

With a clear mind, Mikajia closed his eyes and let his senses expand to cover the land around him, reaching nearly thirty meters in diameter. Barely a second later, Mikajia's eyes shot open after having discovered another pair of kids trying to make it past the canal. Quiet as a whisper, Mikajia sprinted through the streets; the tall noble appearing silently behind the two, just long enough to rip their hearts out through their backs in one strike then dart off once more in the direction of another child he'd located just seconds before.

By my count, there had been eleven total children in the group. I've killed five. Just one more and I'll win. You have no idea the prize you've just offered up to me Saleth. I can't afford to let you win.

Even running at top speed, Mikajia still had several seconds before he would reach the older teenage girl. She was the one who'd made it farthest. She was smart, and crafty. He could easily believe that if he and Saleth hadn't discovered them escaping, she most definitely would have been able to escape. But that wasn't the case, and she was the last kill he needed to win. Mikajia pushed himself to his limit, darting through the streets like a bullet, keeping his senses trained on the girl, while also keeping an eye out for Saleth.

Mikajia was barely one second from reaching the girl when he finally sensed Saleth's presence shooting for the girls location like he was. Sorry bud, but that prize is mine. He thought, just before using a last burst of strength to leap the last several meters in one bound, finally arriving at the entrance to the alley the girl was in. The blink of an eye later, Mikajia was standing behind her, heart held in his hand as her body crumpled to the floor. He dropped the heart to the ground directly beside her as he heard Saleth round the corner.

"I'm sorry Saleth, but I simply couldn't afford to lose this game. You are an honorable man, correct?" Mikajia said, looking up to meet the eyes of the other noble. Mikajia's tone was calm but serious, he did in fact have something that he very much so desired, and he knew without a doubt, that Saleth could aide him to achieve it. "You value your word? And strive to keep it, no matter what?"

Runaway Empty Re: Runaway

Saleth swiftly went around the corners of the alleyways as he headed for the nearest child. If what he sensed was correct then that meant that this one was alone. It would slow him down a bit since it's better to hunt them when they're in groups, but it was also smarter for them to split up. After all, he could only hunt down one at a time when they split up. With that strategy at least one child will be able to live a while longer before Mikajia or him finds them.

The short noble turned another corner and saw that the tall boy from earlier was the one he was hunting. The boy was crouched down near a pile of trash and was rummaging through it. "Now what on earth are you doing?" The boy jumped at the noble's voice yet still continued to rummage through the pile. The silver haired noble shook his head and sheathed Miteagus before approaching the child. "Whatever the reason, you have lost this-"

Bang.

A gunshot echoed throughout the alleyway at the same moment the short noble felt burning pain in his abdomen. He looked down to see a red spot slowly start to grow bigger on his white uniform. Red eyes glanced back up to see the boy was holding a gun in his hands. "Ah, so that was what you were looking for." The noble started walking forward again, resisting the urge to clutch his new wound, and grabbed the gun out of the boy's hands in a split second. He tossed it to the side and reached out to grab the boy's throat with his hand and slammed the child into the hard wall next to them. The boy winced in pain when the back of his head hit the wall yet still managed to glare venomously at the noble in front of him.

"What a naughty child you are," The short noble tsked and applied more pressure to prevent the child from spatting any curses at him. "Naughty children should be punished." Normally he wouldn't do something like this since it was against the laws, but he was injured currently and needed blood to heal the wound. He grabbed the boy's face with his free hand and turned the child's head to the side for better access to his neck. The short noble didn't waste any time and sank his fangs deep into the boy's neck while covering the child's mouth. He didn't need the boy's screams to draw the attention of anyone nearby. He drained the child of every drop of blood in his body before dropping the pale corpse to the ground. He could feel his wound start to heal itself thanks to the large amount of blood he just drank. "Five." He wiped his mouth with the back of his hand and started walking away down the alleyway.

He sent out his senses to see if any other kids were nearby and was a tiny bit surprised at what he found. Mikajia was doing well in the game apparently since only one child was left. Whoever got to that child first would be the winner of this game, and he didn't plan on losing. His heels sharply clicked against the ground rapidly as he ran down the alleyway, weaving around corners heading for the direction of the child. He could feel Mikajia's presence and knew that the other noble was also heading for the child. Lucky for him, he was faster than the other noble. He would be able to reach the child before Mikajia and claim victory over their game.

Saleth continued running in the direction of the child when something unexpected and rare happened. He tripped. The short noble yelped when one of his heels got caught in a crack sending him crashing to the ground. He groaned as he slowly sat up, rubbing his sore cheek, and turned his head to check to see if his heel was okay. "Seems okay," The short noble mused quietly as he inspected the heel, turning his foot in all directions. The silver haired noble got back to his feet and resumed his task of getting to the child, but he was too late.

He turned the corner just in time to see the child's body fall limply to the ground with Mikajia standing over her. He sighed quietly as he stopped in front of the other noble when he started talking. He locked eyes with the taller noble and he could see that his eyes were completely serious. It wasn't often that the taller noble was serious so it put the short noble on edge. "I was the one who proposed this game so it's only fair I keep my word," The short noble replied and his eyes narrowed cautiously. "What is it you desire, Mikajia? For me to put in a good word for you with the higher ranking nobles? Access to more blood? My blood?" He could keep on going naming things that the other noble might desire, but the only way to be sure is for Mikajia to say so himself what he wants.

Dramatic Music For Mikajia's Speech

He chuckled humorlessly at the things Saleth proposed Mikajia might desire. "If only my ambitions were so simple." He said softly, his eyes going distant as he stared off to the side, his mind partially absorbed in memories of a not too distant past. "It's funny how dreams and ambitions can change." He said, placing his hands in his pockets, continuing to stare at seemingly nothing as he spoke. But the memories that swam before his eyes were far from illusionary.

"I once desired to be a doctor. A heart surgeon to be exact. My mother and father were so proud, the day I came and told them my dreams and ambitions. I had it all planned out, from beginning to end; even started taking college classes while in high school, preparing for that future." His voice was distant as he told his story, "To save lives."

Mikajia brought his right hand out of his pocket and stared down at it, a second later saying, "To me, nothing seemed more honorable, or respectable than that. To possess the ability to reach within a person, and mend such a crucial organ. To give them a second chance at life. The opportunity to experience all the wonders and mysteries that life had to offer. To love with renewed passion, knowing that they might not get another chance at life." He began to close his fist, clenching it so tight his nails cut into his skin; blood seeping over his fingers and splattering to the floor; eyes no longer distant, but burning with a seething rage. "I was so naive."

Mikajia took a deep breath and then sighed heavily, loosening his fist and letting his arm swing limply at his side. "I loved my parents. They were the kindest, warmest, most loving people you could have ever met. They loved me, and gave me all the care and support I could ever want or need throughout my life." He looked to Saleth, an honest smile on his face then as he continued, "Back then, you could have offered me the world, and I would have denied it. Because I already felt I had it with them. I had been shown all the wonders and kindness family and life could offer. And that was everything to me. However," The smile slid off his face, replaced by a slowly growing depthless rage, his gaze turning down as his face began to contort into a snarl, "I would soon learn, in the course of one night, the horrors, depravity, and darkness that life also had to offer."

He was quiet for a second before he took a deep breath to quell the surge of rage as the memories resurfaced, "My world, and family, would be completely destroyed by those I had considered to be my dearest, and best friends. They would make their way to my house one night," His breath hitched as he faced another memory, but forced himself to continue, "For the sole purpose of abusing, beating, and raping both myself and my parents. And then, as I lay there, broken and defeated, would be forced to watch them slaughter my parents in front of me." His voice was cold, dead, and distant like his gaze as he told the story that no one else had heard. "By the time they were done, I couldn't recognize them. My parents no longer resembled anything close to human beings.

"I begged and pleaded with the monsters, while they were leaving, to please kill me too." His cold dead eyes began burning once more as he stood there quietly, then started again, "But they simply laughed. They told me, 'This is what you deserve.' And then left me there." He stood there quietly for a few seconds, before his eyes shot up to meet with Saleth's, "Needless to say, I got my vengeance on the beasts. And that would be my last act as a human being. And the death of any possibility to make my previous dreams a reality. They had already changed by that point though. With the destruction of my world, came a resolve, and hatred for many humans around me. And with my new life, it has only grown."

Mikajia began pacing slowly, having finally arrived to the final stretch of his speech, "Becoming a vampire was supposed to be the ultimate key; the way to help me reach my new dreams and goals. So you can imagine my anger, when, years down the road, although I am a vampire, I am no closer to my goals than I had been as a human. My disgust when seeing the human's numbers and strength continue to grow, due to the fact that our leaders deem their debates and power plays to be the key to success on the battlefield. And my outrage when the strategies they suggest on the actual battlefield continually hinder our progress, and actually help the humans." He was almost hysterical with anger by this point, and nearly shouting, but a quick deep breath and he was calmer once more.

"You asked me what I desire. And here it is. I desire nothing less than to completely reform our hierarchy. I am aiming first and foremost for the title of Progenitor and the power it provides. And once I have that, to continue on to the top. And once I have that power, and authority, my ultimate desire will finally be within my grasp. That being nothing less than the total and complete annihilation of the human's world and their way of life. To subjugate every single last one of the filth, and reduce them to nothing more than animals." His eyes and voice were filled with malice, a dark aura of vengeance nearly seething from him by this point.

"And so what is it I'm asking of you Saleth?" He said, taking a step towards the shorter noble, "I am asking that you join me on my journey. To stand by my side as we take the world by storm. That is what I'm requesting of you." He said finally. And when he was finished, Mikajia stood there watching and reading Saleth's reactions, waiting for his answer.

Saleth stood still and was silent as Mikajia began telling tales of when he was human. He started talking about what he planned his future career to be and what his family was like. Soon the scent of the other noble's blood filled the air causing him to glance down to see blood dripping from the taller noble's hands and onto the floor. The short noble looked back up at Mikajia as his story started turning darker. He could feel horror and disgust well up inside him as he described what his trusted friends did to his whole family. He could only imagine how much it hurt to be betrayed and beaten by those you trusted. When he was still human he did get sent to a lot of abusive foster families, but Mikajia's tale made his own past seem pathetic.

He couldn't sympathize with the loss of his parents since his mother died when he was little and his father never spent any time with him or his younger sisters. When his father was killed in front of him all those years ago he just felt nothing. He didn't care for that man so his death didn't bother him. His sisters deaths on the other hand tore him apart inside. He was the last one to be beaten viciously by those robbers. They stopped when they thought he was dead, but he just blacked out from the pain. Lucky for him they didn't bother to check if he was truly dead and left with all of their valuables.

His gaze met Mikajia's when he was done talking about both his human and vampire past. Red eyes blinked in shock when the other noble stated his desire to reform their hierarchy and become a Progenitor. His eyes widened when the other noble asked him to stand at his side and accompany him throughout the journey to the top. "So ambitious for one so young..." He finally said after a few moments of silence. Did he want to join Mikajia? They could both be killed if it was ever found out that they were aiming to rule all vampires. The other noble was taking quite a risk to be telling him all this, he was faster and stronger so he could easily kill the taller noble.

Flashbacks of his previous meetings with Mikajia flashed through his mind and he had a faint idea on why he was taking such a big risk. "All those times you constantly acted friendly towards me," The short noble looked the other vampire in the eyes. "Was it all part of your plan to sway me to join you?" He didn't wait for an answer and kept on talking. "Of course, I do hold some power over some of the nobles though I am still young. I'm one of the few nobles who stills remember life as a human." Mikajia was truly a dangerous enemy if he was planning this from the start. He just might make his ambition a reality.

Saleth's lips twitched upward into a smile. "Very well, I'll stay by your side till the very end." The short noble turned around and started walking away, his heels sharply clicking against the ground. "I would like to see exactly what kind of path you'll carve."

Runaway Empty Re: Runaway

A sly smile passed over his lips as he listened to Saleth speak after he'd finished talking and stated his request. In the beginning, when he'd first came across Saleth, he had seen the potential the noble could possess in his plans, and had in fact begun befriending the man in order to gain his assistance. However, things had changed since then, he was no longer saying or doing the things he did for the purpose of manipulation. He had actually began to like and felt like he could at least consider trusting the noble.

The smirk widened more when Saleth finally agreed to join him. Mikajia watched the noble's back as he turned and walked away, saying he looked forward to seeing the kind of path he would carve. He thought about that quietly after Saleth had left. He placed his right hand back in his pocket, turning his eyes down to stare at the corpse of the girl; seconds later lifting his face to the roof of Sanguinem.

He already knew that the path to his ambitions would be a bloody and dangerous one, but it would also be more than that. It would be more than a simple path of destruction and death, it would also be a path of restructuring and rebuilding. A second later, a chuckle left his lips as a grin spread across them. "That's perfect." He said when the description came to him. His gaze lowered to stare at the space Saleth had previously stood in and said, "I will carve a path of rebirth through the land." He said, before finally turning around and walking out of the alley, feeling the sense that the gears of fate had finally begun to turn.
